Do you need a passport to drive from the US to Canada?

Im planning to go to the niagra falls area, and i need to know if you drive throught can you just show id or what? Also coming back do you need it?

  2. No. You just need an ID getting BACK to the U.S. Read the links I provided you for more info.

  3. Someone JUST asked this question a few hours ago.  Please take a look at the questions already answered before posting new questions.  Yes, you do need a passport when you enter and when you leave Canada.

    (I stand corrected, I apologize for the misinformation, and I just have to mention to New York State of Mind that I'm not the one threatening to kill myself and looking for pity on yahoo answers...)

  4. I live 30 mins from Ontario and you do not need a passport to enter.  Not at this time, just photo ID.

    I've read a lot of Cee Lyn's answer's.  She think she know's everything, but she doesn't.  

  5. Passports will not be needed for land travel between the U.S and Canada until June 1, 2009.  Now, you need a photo I.D. and birth certificate.  see site below to read the law for yourself.

    but its alot faster when you use a passport,

    I think it will be madatory next year.
