  1. Mexico and the US have a treaty to recognize driver licenses, so to drive down here you do need a valid driver license.

To enter the country, as of last year (US citizens and green card holders only needed the green card or an ID or birth certificate to come here), you need to present a valid signed passport at the point of entry.

  2. For  American citizens, passports are not yet required to DRIVE to and from Mexico.  You need a photo I.D. and EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate.  Passports will be required after June 2009.  See site below and read the statement carefully.  Wise to go ahead and get a passport before the grand rush that will surely happen.

  3. It use to be No, but it just changed not too long ago to where you have to have one now so if you had plans on going in the next week or two you might want to ask an Illegal how they got here cus if not you will be in the house sitting there like @#^&$**$%^#$%@!

  4. I have a British passport and needed one once at Brownsville and had to wait for a couple days until Fed-Ex delivered mine and they had to have an address to deliver it.

The previous year I left Brownsville and went to Laredo and threw every piece of I.D.I had and my car was processed.

Passports are the "Holy Grail" for travelers and everyone is going to need one soon to go anywhere

You only need proof of who you are if your only going to a border city.
