  1. in 2009 you will.

  2. I believe so.

  3. Not if you are a US citizen traveling by car.  I just got back from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario.  All I needed to get in was a photo ID, and that's all I needed to get back.

However, I looked extensively into this before I went.  You need proof of US citizenship status beyond a photo ID (although they didn't ask me for mine).  I brought along my birth certificate (this is what they recommeneded).  If you have a passport, it can serve as your photo ID AND your proof of US citizenship.

Also, if you are traveling by air, you need a US passport to get back in to the US.  It is very easy to get into Canada, but harder to get back in to the US.

  4. Yes, even Canadian citizens require a passport to  enter their own country
