  1. yes

  2. Yes you do.  As of Dec 2007 you have to have a passport to go on a cruise.  I went on a 2 week cruise this past March and they wouldn't even let my friend book it unless they had our passport numbers.

If you need your passport right away you have to pay $160 and if you don't need it within 3-4 weeks then you can pay $100 for it.

Make sure when applying for a passport everything they ask for is up to date, or it will put your process on hold.

You also need it when getting back into the US because when you go through customs you have to have it.

TRUST ME get a passport right away if your going on a cruise.

I knew someone I worked with that also went on a cruise and she said there were people who got there and didn't have their passports, and the cruise line made them wait in a small room until they figured out what they were going to do with them.  She then went on to say that she didn't see any of those people that got stopped on the ship.

Oh and lastly you can not book and appointment with a passport agency unless you have 2 weeks or less until you have to travel outside of the US.

  3. Yes, you do now

  4. If you are a U.S. citizen and you are traveling to and from a U.S. territory,  you do not need a passport. .   If you travel to other locations in the Carribean, you do.    Let me refer you to these websites,  they have more information and all the answers you need.

    Department of Homeland Security........... www.dhs.gov

    U.S. Department of State................ www.travel.state.gov

    Charlie:

You are wrong ! !   ALL AIR TRAVEL coming into the United States REQUIRES a passport.    SEA TRAVEL to and from U.S. territories ONLY do not require a passport.   On Jure 1 2009,  ALL air, land and sea travel into the United States will require a passport proposed under the WHTI  (Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. )

  5. If your Caribbean cruise only goes to Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands, these are considered to be U.S. territories so you never leave the USA. Therefore, you will never need a passport even after the rules change in June, 2009.

If your Caribbean cruise makes a stop at any other Caribbean island, then you will be considered to have left the USA.  If you are reentering the USA (on the boat) before June1, 2009, then although a passport will not be mandatory, you will need either a passport or a government photo ID with a birth certificate.  Beginning on June 1, 2009, passports become mandatory for all forms of travel (air, land and sea) returning to the USA.

  6. yea.. i think so =) i'm pretty sure tho =)

  7. you do need a passport to go on a cruise  to the caribbean.I went to the bahamas like four years ago and it requiere a passport .

now if things changed that I am not aware of you might want to check with your embasy or consulate which ever is avalilable where you live.

  8. anytime you leave the country you need a passport

  9. yes. but allow a couple months or so before your trip til you get the passport, i almost did not get to go =(

  10. Yes you do

  11. Yes and if you are not American, you'll need a visa too. Unless you have a visa waiver, then you'll be all right with just your passport.

  12. yep.

  13. 4 wrong answers in a row...none with references, of course.  That is because passports are NOT yet needed for LAND and SEA travel to and from Canada and Mexico or the Caribbean region.  For now, you need a photo I.D. and a proof of citizenship...EITHER a passport OR a birth certificate.  See site below for current, correct info. Now, SOME cruise lines like passengers to have passports, so it is wise to call and ask them their policy.

Edit: here is a 2nd reference for you...just do check with YOUR cruise line..the LAW does not require passports, but cruise line might.

  14. yes 100%. i've been to 33 countries.

  15. yes, or else they won't let you go.

  16. Not if the ship never leaves port, otherwise Yes.

I had to update my passport to go to a wedding that was taking place on board a cruise ship.

(As if buying the lousy toaster oven was trouble enough)
