  1. right now a passport is STRONGLY recommended,

but in the next year you WILL need one.

    have a good cruise.

    cruiseclues.com has good packing lists.

  2. yes ....i getting one now for my trip to the bahamas in 2008

  3. yes

  4. I think the answer to that is now Yes.  Check this website:  http://www.trvlxpress.com/

They can tell you for sure.  They are my travel agents and they take care of all my travel arrangements.

  5. you should ask your travel agent, or which ever cruise you're going with. my guess would be yes. Have fun!!

  6. Yes.  The rules are changing though because of the backlog of passport applications.

Check ALL of your travel arrangements and ask if you need a passport, airlines, cruise ship, etc....

  7. no, a birth cirtificate will do ya, i dont own a passport but have taken a carnival cruise to cozumel, grand cayman and jamaica

  8. You do NOT currently need a passport to travel by SEA to the Caribbean.  See website below for official State Dep't info.  Read the section that starts out, "JUNE 20, 2007 U.S. GOVERNMENT DELAYS..."  Read all the rest of the page.  Now, that takes care of the GOVERNMENT requirement, BUT, some cruise lines have their wn requirementsand insist that their passengers have passports. So, the best thing to do is CALL your cruise line ans ask.  have a great trip.

  9. If you are a US Citizen then you do, as of January 23, 2007, need a passport to travel via air to (or more importantly to return to the US from) any of the Caribbean Islands which are not US territories.  This includes the Bahamas.

Right now, and until September 30, there is a moratorium on this for those who have applied for their passports.  But you need proof that you have applied for a passport.

As of some point between January 1, 2008 and June 2008, this restriction will also apply to land and sea travel (including all cruises).  This is part of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative.

Note that some cruise lines require a passport anyway, or at the very least can be a hassle if you don't have one, so it is a good idea to get one.  Do check with your travel agent as to your cruise line's policy in this regard.

  10. Officially not until 2009.  What you will need instead is your actual birth certificate.  Also, if you have changed your name through marriage you will need your marriage liscense showing this change.  It is a lot easier and quicker if you have you passport, but no you dont NEED it yet.  Enjoy!

  11. not until jan 1, 2008. Until then, your birth certificate and a photo id will be just fine. I'm going on a carnival cruise in october. I got this info from a family member that works for carnival

  12. yep, you need a passport to go anywhere now
