Do you need a passport to re-enter us from canada?

I know that you just need proof of citizenship and ID to cross into Canada (BY LAND), but is this the same coming back? I heard that passports won't be required until 2009, but I need to make sure before I go! I don't want to get stuck!

  1. NO YOU DON'T NEED A PASSPORT!!!

in june of 2009 you will need a passport.

and why would you think that you can get out of the usa without a passport but they wouldn't let you back in with out one.

i wouldn't think you're this dumb but do you understand that when you cross the border to canada its a canadian person checking your id and aon the way back its a usa person and if its a usa person checking on the way back and our law states that you don't need a passport until june of 2009 then why would you think you would need one to get back in the usa.

  2. I think that you still need a passport, even if you travel by land. I would bring one just in case.

  3. Even next year you won't need a passport for travelling (by land) on the north-american continent. From USA either to Canada or Mexico a passcard will do.
