Do you need a passport to take a cruise to the Bahammas?

Whenever you are travel ling anywhere, take your Passport, just in case there is an emergency.

Yes and No. Some cruise lines are requiring a passport but officially on the government web site they are saying sometime this summer you will need a passport for cruises.

If you fly to any where in the caribbean except Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands you will need a passport.

Call your cruise line and ask them if they require passports. Best to get one any way. We also use ours for domestic travel.

I guess it depends on who you ask...travel agent told me yes,but Carnival Cruise told me no. good luck.

They are not Customs Agents, they are Inspectors.

I just returned from a Bahama Cruise on Carnival and they recommended Passports but they were not really required yet. A valid photo ID and a birth certificate would suffice, but as far as I am concerned a Passport is the easiest and quickest unless you like a Customs agent asking you questions and scrutinizing everything you own.

really much depends who u ask like one time we were planning a trip and a travel company said yes to us then we went to another and said no but we brought it in case turns out we needed it!

Passports are needed to FLY anywhere internationally.  They are NOT yet needed for LAND and SEA tarvel within North America or the nations of the Caribbean.  You will need a photo I.D. and proof of citizenship...Either a passport  OR birth certificate.  See site below to read the current info.  Now , SOME cruise lines like all passengers to have passports, so it is best to call your cruise line and ask their policy.
