  1. If you don't go into another country you're fine, if you do go through another country you need a passport.  I went on a cruise of the inside passage of Alaska and our cruise started out of Canada so I got a passport for the trip (that was in 2003).  We flew from San Francisco to Vancouver and in Vancouver had to show our passports.

  2. If you are going to fly then you need a passport. If you are able to drive to Vancouver then they have what is called a passport card. This costs about a 1/3 of a passport but, only valid if you drive.

  3. If your leaving one country to go to another one then you will need a passport.

  4. You need a passport.  As of dec 2006 most if not all cruise lines now require you to have one when cruising.

I just went on a 2 week cruise back in March and we had to have a passport to even be able to go on it.

  5. Alaska is in the United States

  6. Yes, you need a passport, and it must valid for six months beyond your tour start date:

  7. You actually do not need a passport for a cruise even if it stops in Canada , UNLESS the cruise line requires it... so ask their policy.  The law only requires a poto I.D. and proof of citizenship...birth certificate  to travel to Canada by sea.  See site below.  Do check with the cruise line as some have their own requirements.

  8. No, you need no passport. Alaska is in the U.S

  9. Where does the cruise stop?  That matters, because some cruise lines and some ports in Canada require Passports.

Alaska is a U.S. state.  Alaska therefore requires no passport...it's getting there that's the issue.

Call the cruise line and ask them where they port and if a Passport is required.

  10. All cruises require a passport. Since the ship arrives to US ports from open waters, you have been outside the United States.

  11. You do not need a passport to go to Alaska. I've been there without one. But if you're going on a cruise to Alaska that also goes to Canada (Birtish Columbia) then you'll need one for that. You used to not need a passport to go to Mexico and Canada, but with the increasing immigration issues you have to have one for Canada.

Q: When is a passport required?

    A: See Foreign Entry Requirements.

A passport is not required for travel by U.S. Citizens to any territory or waters, continental or insular, subject to the jurisdiction of the United States (including Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands.)
