  1. not until June 2009.  You can still use your birth certificate and license for now.

  2. YES... anyone entering the U.S. by ship or plane needs a passport to re-enter.  You don't need a passport if you are walking or driving in but for all other modes of transportation you need a passport.

  3. YES, you need a passport. You are going to travel to islands that are not the USVirgin Islands. Once you leave those islands and go to Saint Thomas, you are going to need your passport because this is US territory, also, you need it to enter Puerto Rico, another US territory.  To travel from PR to NY you don't need the passport.  In all caribbean cruises you will visit some islands that maybe you will need the passport to buy things or for id.  Take a color photocopyof the passport and use that copy with you.  Leave the real one in the safebox in your cabin. Happy Cruising!

  4. NO. You will need one starting in June 2009!

Check out the cruise lines website, they'll you find exactly what is required.

  5. Not yet.  in the near future passports will be required.  Instead of asking here, you should keep checking the State Dept web site as the info constantly changes.

  6. If youre leaving us for another country yes. If youre going to another part of us or the bahamas its up the cruise line for now. Read theyre rules. Johan
