  1. No just state issued photo id

  2. Yup.  As you need it to get into Alaska.  They will stop you at the border and not allow you into the US. and you can't get back. so you will be stuck in the "hinterland of Canada" and have to Learn French and eat muk-tuk in order to survive.

  3. After June 1, 2009 you will need a passport.

Until then, if you're driving across, they will let you through with only your driver's license plus birth certificate.

  4. To cross the US/Canada border by car you ened valid government issued photo ID (driver's licence works perfectly fine) and proof of citizenship (birth certificate works) it doesn't matter if you are going into Canada or the US these are the rules right now.  passport is only need when flying and ONLY when flying. any other way does not require a passport until June 1, 2009 (which may get pushed back again but that is the date set right now.)

as for people saying not into canada but into the us. that is ridiculous.  they are shared borders, no one is going to say "my country needs a passport, yours doesn't) Canada and the US will always work together and have the same rules when it comes to border regulations.

  5. I don't believe you need a passport to enter Canada yet butyou willneed one to get back into the States.
