Do you need a permit to get a license?

I am 16 and 4 months old, I skipped out on my permit but now need my license.

My question is, do you need your permit before you get your actual license.

I don't know if you have to have it or not, it probably depends on your state, so call the DOT or DOL and ask.  But how did you learn to drive without a permit?

Go to your States DMV website for all details. Many states require a permit for a certain amount of time before taking the full driving test.

In Oregon yes you do need your permit before you get your license. But I think it just depends on where you live. Try calling your local DMV and ask them.
