Do you need a permit to replace a broken air conditioner in New Jersey?

We replaced our air conditioner a year ago. Now we are selling our place and have just been told we need permits for it. Is this true?

  2. It depends if you have a aircondition in your window  then no you do not need one. But if you have a central air condition unit you may need one but I really dont think so I wouldnt worry about it Good Luck
