Do you need a special swimsuit to surf im taking lessons! Do you need board shorts! if so pick out a cute 1!!!

im taking lessons and do i need board shorts if i do pick out cute ones i like pink brown black hearts poc a dots and stripes i want something flirty and what top do i need for surfing!!!!!!! AND I ALSO NEED TIPS FOR SURFING!! HELP!!!!!!!

Make sure you get the RIGHT kind of top, and tie it tight. (If you find one you like but don't know if it will work/ stay on, ask someone at the store).

Just go to a local surf shop or macy's type of store, even Pacific Sun. Just look for roxy, they make some cute stuff for gals to wear. I would say that you should def get board shorts, cause that way depending on your bathing suit, you wont feel like your butt is sticking up in the air, and you wont feel as exposed. Your chest is probably going to get a little bit red, but dont buy a rashguard unless you really plan on sticking with the sport. When you go, just wear a tight shirt for your top to help dim the rashes a bit.

According to female pro surfer Kyla Langen [courtesy of Transworld Surf]...

In medium to small waves bathing suits are "golden." In larger waves though your suit can come off so she says to wear board shorts and a halter style or banded triangle top. She's now into secure tops with crisscross backs.

So if you just want to look cute and flirty, you may want to stay on the beach. Girls board shorts are so short I'm surprised anyone can surf with camel toe and yeast infections.

Seriously though, either wear a bikini and stay in small surf or wear a sturdy top and guys shorts. You don't need to prepare for lessons. That's why they're called lessons.

There will be plenty of other girls there wondering the same things you are so it just doesn't matter.
