  1. I am presuming you are from the U.K.  All you need is the FMT...called a tourist card...you will get it on the plane or at the border.  See site below to see that U.K. citizens do not require  visa.

  2. You definitely need a passport to fly into Mexico--you can't get on the plane without one.  To drive across the border, you just need an original birth certificate and a drivers license.  But that will change on June 1st, 2009 when you'll be required to have a passport or a passport card to drive aross the border.  See the link below to learn more about the passport card.  The passport card cannot be used for flying, but it's cheaper to get than the passport.

The visa you need is the Tourist Card (FM-T), if you're flying in, you've paid for it in the price of the ticket.  And you'll receive it before you land to fill out the form.  You'll be given one copy of the form--don't loose it--you're required to turn in the form when you leave the country.

If you're driving across the border, and you're going more than twenty miles into the country, you have to stop and pick up the FM-T at the border.

  3. You may need one it depends on how far down into Mexico that you plan to travel.  For the border areas you won't need one, but for the interior of Mexico which is I believe 26 miles south you will need one.
