I was told you have to have an "attachment insurance" on your car insurance policy in order to cross the border......can someone plz let me know? I am planning a trip the beginning of June from Ohio, and would hate to drive that far and not be able to cross. Thanks in advance to all.

  1. I went from Montana to Canada and all I had to have was my car insurance card and my license and registration card... and by the way, it's easier to go into Canada than to come home.they check everything you buy while you are there before you can cross back over the border. have fun..it's so pretty up there...

  2. Ask your insurance company, they are the only ones who can tell you for sure, but usually car insurance is good for Canada and the US if you are insured in either country. Car insurance is mandatory in all Canadian provinces so you won't get in an accident with an uninsured driver unless you're unfortunate enough to come across some idiot who is driving illegally.

  3. Canada is not like Mexico where you have to purchase Mexican car insurance before going over the border.  If you have insurance for driving in Ohio then you are covered in Canada.

  4. You may contact the American Automobile Association (AAA) or Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) if you are a member. AAA members are covered by the CAA while traveling in Canada. Be sure to carry proof of your car insurance
