Do you need any type of Permit to ride an Electric Scooter in Nyc?

hi there, I'd like to know if all electric scooters are street legal in nyc and if I need a permit or not. Can I just take my scooter and ride away ? Thank you

There are so many people there that I don;t think you'll get caught, so you probably shouldn't worry about the law. And if someone does stop you, I think you should pick up the scooter and throw it at them.
