Do you need car insurance to get drivers license in Texas?

Yes you have to have car insurance to get a liscence

or else when the cops pulls you over, you go to jailll!

and ps. theres no way to get a liscence if you dont have car insuranec on your name

3 days ago I accompanied my 16 year old daughter to the drivers license office on Arkansas Lane in Arlington to get her drivers license.  At no time was I asked for proof of insurance.

I live in Texas and no you do not need proof of car insurance when you get a drivers license. Thats like saying you HAVE to have a car in order to obtain a license. If you are having doubts just go to the DPS and ask.

You need liability insurance to get a license.

You also need it if you're going to register a car or have your car inspected.

i know for a fact you have to bring proof of insurance with you when you get your license.  Main reason is most of the time you have to take a driving test if this is your first license.  the car you drive has to have this.  I just went and got my son his permit and yes, they asked for it.  And yes, I live in Texas
