  1. yes

  2. If you are still in school, try getting on the school paper or yearbook staff.  Those provide some experience in the publishing field. Entry level generally means no experience necessary..... however, if you have some experience like the ones I mentioned above you stand a better chance at landing the job than some poor s*****k off the streets with nothing that even resembles publishing experience.   I would also bone-up on your computer skills too since most jobs require most of their work being done with advanced publishing software.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Take college courses to prepare you for this job.  Very few jobs like this will hire someone with no formal education.

  4. Not at all.  The very definition of "entry level" means someone does not need experience.  You will be looking at a clerical job, or manual labor, but this is the only way to gain experience.

  5. Magazine jobs are very desirable, so competition is usually pretty stiff! Generally, you need at least an internship with some kind of publication to get a job in magazines. At smaller magazines, a bachelor's degree and a good score on an editing test might be enough, but that's rare.

If you're a recent graduate, it's possible to secure post-graduation internships. If you've been out of school a few years and can't afford to take an internship, try pitching freelance articles to get clips you can show to potential employers. Local newspapers and magazines are good places to start—you can learn about freelance writing at www.writersdigest.com.
