Do you need indicators on a 1979 UK Motorcycle

I am restoring a 1979 Z650 and want to leave off the indicators. Is there a requirement for bikes of that age to have them on? I plan to remove the switch for the indicators also. Thanks

  1. You don't need them for any bike, period. It says so right in the driver's hand books. But you must use hand signals to communicate with the other drivers, according to the book.

  2. if you want to use it on public highways, then yes.

  3. If they came on the bike from the factory, they they have to remain on the bike. sorry

  4. All the above are wrong. Electric indicators are not necessary on any UK vehicle. If they are fitted they must work. Take them off if you want to. You can leave the switch on if it is not a seperate item and is hard to remove it.

  5. yea you need it

  6. There is a cut off date for vintage stuff, but at 1979 it certainly needs indicators.
