Do you need more than one business license to work from home?

Question

I'm looking into running a few internet based businesses from home as an independent contractor for different companies, I also want to start my own website. Can I apply and get one business license or would I need to get a license for each individual job that I choose to do?

Any help you may have regarding this is greatly appreciated. If it helps I will be doing this in NC.

If your an Independent Representative or Independent Contractor and have your home based business within a business then the primary company would umbrella you.  But if your talking about being an Independent Contractor say like having your own company such as a construction company, daycare etc, then you would need to get a business license.  You can get one license and list multi task.  You can do it in general or you can do it individually.  For tax purposes I would do one and have it umbrella'd to multiple things.
