I am throwing my 23rd b-day party. I have decided that I want it at the beach in Chicago (preferrably a southside beach, like Rainbow). I want to have a (hawaiin) lu au theme. But I was not sure If I could just show up, set up and party. I don't want anyone telling me I have to leave. I am planning to have about 20-30 people. We want to BBQ and have drinks and play a few games. Please help my b-day is in 3 weeks!

  1. I am almost positive you don't have to have permission when it's a public beach.

  2. Check with the Chicago Park District - they are in charge of the beaches and they should be able to give you all the info you need such as do you need permission for your party - some places require a party permit if there are over a certain number of people; a permit for alcohol - if you can even have it as many public beaches do not allow alcohol on them or if they do, it must be in cans or a keg, no glass bottles; a permit for a fire - some public beaches and parks do not allow open flames on them; therefore, no fires or grills; how much it would cost for a permit; if there is a pavilion you can rent where you are allowed to grill, etc.
