  1. No you don't i started wakeboarding about 4 years ago. i started out on the windiest day of the whole season. i got up my first try. if you can wakeboard in choppy water you can wakeboard basically any time. you might have trouble keeping balance but just get up and go again. if you can find a cove it might be less choppy. Thursday i went out and it was real choppy in open water but when we went to the cove it was really glassy. good luck!

  2. no you don't but it can be helpful...if you've never done a water sport before, I would suggest either getting up early when nobodies really out on the lake yet or waiting till it des down at sunset. If you have done other water sports before, you could get away with learning in more rougher water. If you are doing anything outside the wakes though, it's always better to be on calm water.

  3. i live in kansas city right by the ozarks and if ur learning how to wakeboard i dont recomend learning there but if u must i would try during the week or on a far arm of the lake.

  4. yeah, it is harder to keep your balance with wakes but you could still get up.

  5. It CAN effect how you wakeboard and its much easier starting off to find a nice calm ski cove to learn. But you don't need it to be completely calm. Its really not too much harder, just be sure to bend your knees a little more than usual. Your knees act as shock absorbers! So you will not fall as easily if you choose to wakeboard in really choppy waters. But if you want more height in your jumps and you don't have a tower....hey I would go for the choppy! But ultimately its up to you and what you feel your ready for and comfortable with.

I have been to Lake of the Ozarks many times! :) Great lake. But I usually go to Table Rock!

    Happy Wakeboarding :)
