  1. Yes you do.

The Australian Government website below has all the information you need.

    Welcome to the Australian Government's

    Electronic Travel Authority System

If you are planning a holiday visit or a short business trip to Australia, you will need to apply for either a visa or an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority). An ETA will let you spend up to three months in Australia.

    http://www.eta.immi.gov.au/

Important: changes to ETA application processing from April 2008

From 21 April 2008, the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship is implementing changes to the ETA system. The department will continue to process most ETA applications instantly; however, in a small number of cases, some additional processing will be required. If your ETA cannot be issued immediately please check back in 12 hours to confirm whether your application has been successful. Please apply for your ETA as early as possible prior to travel to allow sufficient time for your application to be processed.

  2. passports usually allow you three months, especially in allied countries.....if we have any left  :)

  3. you need a passport and a tourist visa

  4. Yea, I'm pretty sure all you need is a passport. I went to Germany, but as a group military trip, and they said they just need to see our passport's, but our "passports" were considered just our military id's and orders.... But yea, I don't think you need a visa, unless you're going to stay there for a while.

  5. I think you just need a passport.  Check out the Austrailian consulate's website to be sure though.

  6. You need an Electronic Visa.  It's different, and easier than most visas:

    Visa Processing Procedures and Requirements

    Australian ETA is required

Note: FOR A STAY OF UP TO 3 MONTHS, NO VISA STAMP IS REQUIRED IN A PASSPORT. HOWEVER, ALL

TRAVELERS MUST OBTAIN AN AUSTRALIAN ETA. AN AUSTRALIAN ETA IS AN ELECTRONIC VISA WHICH

REPLACES THE TRADITIONAL VISA STAMP IN A PASSPORT. Australian ETA's are ONLY valid for citizens of

the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece,

Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands,

Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United

States Of America and Vatican City. ALL OTHER CITIZENS MUST OBTAIN A VISA IN THEIR PASSPORT.

THE AUSTRALIAN ETA CAN BE OBTAINED BY VISITING OUR WEBSITE http://www.cibt.com AND CLICKING ON

    AUSTRALIAN ETA.

Please note: Certain trips will still require a visa stamp in your passport. These include temporary work assignments,

stays longer than 3 (three) months and other activities outside of tourism or business meetings. Please call our

Customer Service Center on (800) 929-2428 or email us at CustomerService@cibt.com if you require a long term/

work visa for Australia. Use long term multiple entry code.

You do need a visa to enter Austraila, even for the day.  You can get it through the cruise line, airline or your travel agent.  it is done electronically and is about $20 last I checked.
