Do you need the CD inside the computer in order to play Sims 2: Life Stories?

Do you need the Sims 2: Life Stories in your disk drive in order to play? Or can you just play if you already downloaded the game without the CD?

if you installed the game from the CD (from an actual store) then yes, you need the CD in the disk drive to play the sims 2 life stories
