  1. 100% NO

People always buy tickets for others using their credit card. Esepcially corportate travelers, sometimes each company has one card they use for plane tickets.

SO, absoulutley 100% no, you do not need the credit card that was used.

Gee I am getting thumbs down. Not sure why. I use my companies card ( not in my name) and not one time in 10 years has anyone asked for the card at the airport.

Thats funny because I fly singapore airlines twice or so a year for business. Never had them check my card.

  2. Your ID should be sufficient however it certainly doesn't hurt to also have the credit card.

  3. No, it need not.

  4. Depends on the airline. Singapore Airlines, for example, DO require you to show the credit card at check-in, or a signed release from the card holder. This is clearly stated on their website when you book, and they did indeed ask for the card when I checked in.

The now-defunct Oasis required either the credit card or a photocopy of it during check-in.

Other airlines aren't so strict and you can travel without the credit card. Therefore it is completely wrong to say "no you 100% don't need it". ASK YOUR AIRLINE!!

Take it just to be sure - assuming it's yours...

    [Edit]

Some people here seem to be thinking that just because they've never been asked for one means you NO airline ANYWHERE in the world asks for one. This is blatantly false as my own evidence clearly shows. Airlines are getting stricter on credit card fraud and just because someone flew on SQ a year ago and wasn't asked doesn't mean to say that their policies are the same today.

Try a dummy booking on the Singaporeair.com website (eg LON-MNL and get as far as the payment page. Note the box which says " Please note that you will be required to present the credit/ debit card used for this booking for verification at the time of check-in at the Airport.".

  5. I have never been asked for the credit card when flying, and I fly domestic and international.  Also I use my credit card to purchase airfare for other family members and they've never had to show the card.  Besides it would be rather difficult if I purchase a ticket for them to come visit me.  They wouldn't have the card there to show, I would have it at their destination.  So my answer, "No".

  6. Not usually.  Having the e-ticket shows that it's been paid for.
