Do you need the internet to use wifi max for psp?

I have a laptop and a psp but no internet can I use wifi max for the psp to create a wifi access point and go on the internet on my psp and other device for example another laptop or can I use the laptop which is running wifi max to connect to the internet?

You need the internet to use a WiFIMax.

The idea is that the PSP connects to the WifiMax, the WifiMax connects to the computer and the computer connects to the internet.

Thus the PSP connects to the internet through the computer having the internet.

In other words, you'll not be getting the PSP on the internet, unless whatever the WifiMax is plugged into is connected to the internet.

You can use the wifi on the laptop to create a connection to the psp, thus allowing the psp to access the Internet through the laptop, without the use of a wireless router.  However, you will have to have an Internet connection and have it plugged into the laptop.  I know you don't want it, but if your psp and laptop both have built in wifi, your best bet is a wireless routher.  And, of course, an Internet connection.

You cannot connect to the Internet using wifi on any device if there is no wireless router signal available.

Yes you need a broadband connection. Why don't you want to get a router? It is so much easier to connect your PSP to the Internet plus you will have a better range. The Wifi Max is a complete waste of money, I had one myself and found it extremely difficult to connect the PSP to it. Plus you need to have the computer on because the internet is running through the computer which wastes electricity. With a router, you can turn the computer off because the broadband is running through the router, not the computer.

Why don't you get a router?

Laptop you will still need a wifi, i don't think you can connect your psp to your laptop.
