Do you need the pin number of an account to do a balance transfer?

If my husband is transferring a balance from my credit card to his, does he need my pin number?I would assume not since they say never give your pin to anyone. It's for an account that is now closed and I no longer have the physical card but the interest rate is just insane so his card has a far more reasonable rate.
