Do you need to be a American Citizen to work as a doctor?

If someone wants to become a Neurosurgeon and their not an American citizen but want to leave here all their life. Do you need to be an American citizen to work here as a doctor

  1. No you actually do not have to be a citizen.  You have to have a visa of course to be here legally.   My Mom has a friend that has a boyfriend who is Iraqi and he did an Dr internship in CA and he was having big problems because they were going to make him go back to Iraq if he didn't find a hospital that would take him on as a Dr.  after his internship was over.  To make a long story short, a hospital in Hawaii took him on.  Make sense?


  2. you need to have an american license to practice medicine, so i would imagine yes.

  3. Not necessarily, but it would be easier and more convenient if you would be an American citizen if you would be living here for a long time.
