  1. you do if your planing to work more with the animals

    if not then no..

  2. It depends what you want to do in each of those places. But, not really. You should however have a Science background...but most importnatly a strong background working with animals would help.

    Other fields include:

    Conservation Biologist

    Biochemist

    Forestry

...many other fields but again the RIGHT BACKGROUND is needed..

If you are a Biochem major but have worked as a zookeepers assistant for 3 years and you can still apply for a zookeepers position..

    Hope that helps.

  3. No. There are lot of workers inside an aquarium or zoo facility. Not all of them are zoologists, biologists. But if you have a degree in those biosciences, then you are sure to land on at least a middle position in that facility which is better than being employed for housekeeping and zoo maintenance.

  4. Yes you do. You need to go to collage for that. thats pretty cool because thats what i wanna do.

  5. nope, there's tons of other things you can do there!

  6. no, i worked at a wildlife park, we had zebras and lemurs etc and i never had experience, i just love animals.

    :) x x

  7. No. You can volunteer with no experience at all!

  8. If you are going for a certain field in the zoo such as caring for the fish and making sure that they are not sick or taking care of them when they are then yes. To just work there and deliver food to the designated areas, or work the concession stands and things like that, then no.

  9. you dont have to be either im only 14 n im volunteering at the texas state aquarium

  10. I'm sure that training as a vet. assist. would have the same spot at zoo's. Lots of people grow into their jobs at zoo's or aquariams. The trick is to get your foot into the door.

  11. Only if you want to get paid the big bucks there. Otherwise you 'll have to do the jobs that no one wants to do.

  12. no u can always be the one to pick up the elephant dung.

  13. no, but I guess you need to have some experience on dealing with animals.

  14. No, I don't think so. You can just work there to take care of the animals, if that's what you want to do.

  15. Most zoos and aquariums do prefer you have some type of zoological or marine biology education.  Experience counts for a lot too.  Many zoos have volunteer programs where you can work you way up to a paid position..but it varies from zoo to zoo.  Check out this website for actual zoo and aquarium job openings to see exactly what type of requirements they are asking for.

  16. No i don't think so. Aquariums at least don't require it. At least the one here in Plymouth, UK didn't. The only thing they wanted was a HSE diver certificate if you wanted to work in tanks feeding fish/sharks and cleaning them...

  17. It's preferred if you have a qualification, such as a Bachelor of Science (obtained from aprox. 3 yrs of study at University) majoring in Biology or Marine Biology, or some related field such as Conservation or Ecology. Sometimes, additional study is required such as a certificate in working with captive animals, or even a Postgraduate in Zoology! (It depends, some countries are OK with just a Bachelor of Science, while other places perfer Doctors/Professors and Master's students - which in short, requires a lot of years of studying)!

If you want to work (in general) at a zoo or aquariam, then the best job you can end up with is some kind of volunteering job such as cleaning. Volunteering actually has its own advantages, and many people begin by doing this. It shows how passionate you are to work in an environment with animals. If you're very determined, then perhaps you'll end up getting the required qualifications you need at a University - its not hard, all you need is modivation and to be determined to achieve a dream.

  18. zoologists study about animals while marine biologists study

    about life under water

  19. Cleaner.

  20. Nope.  Animal trainers, veterinarians, and various other sorts work in those kinds of places too.

  21. you need BSc in marine biology to do aquariums, but zoos are different , but it depends on what you want to do .Just to feed them you take a course on their dietary needs , but to be in charge of a pen you need to show a good understanding , or have done a veterinary nurses course .This may have changed but this is how it was a few years ago

  22. work is an  area which people can differentiate in various category. if you are the man who perform the service that is different,if you are the organiser  or the institution head it is helpful to hold such honour.

  23. of course not...based on my experience...hehehehe...

but really it depends on what job youre taking in that..zoo thing

however if the job youre taking is a janitor, obviously, you dont have to be a zoologist (i know what youre thinking, i have some common sense...)the main anwer is, it depends on your job

  24. No, you don't - for example, I worked in a zoo, and did education for school groups that came, or that I brought animals to, and I have a masters in biology.  Most of the animal keepers did not have even that much education, at least at the small zoo where I worked.

At marine parks, they often hire young people in college, with an interest in fish or marine mammals to work with the animals there, too...

    Good luck!

  25. No.  At least for most of the jobs.  If you want to do more than cleanup, fix things, feed animals, carry out the trash, work at a concession and sell tickets.  Most jobs at a zoo are service related.

Most zoos have a volunteer program.  I recommend you get in to one.  That way you'll learn more about what really goes on at a zoo.
