  1. you wont be working on comps ...just answering questions ... more for sales then anything else .... you

'l be asked basic questions on pc's ..ya know ram .. space !!speed ... should be a breeze for ya !!!!i shop all the time staples ... i hear the ?'s people ask not too deep .......

  2. you should know that the role of sales of sales in box box stores is to sell extended warranties not to sell computer products

any of the big box stores go through tremendous amounts of staff and are always hiring

Read a couple books on the interview process and how to present yourself

At staples they are fairly rigid in their process of 3 interviews i believe

first to meet you , second ( if you get there to ask more questions)

third to have someone else assess you in case you do not work out so team manager member number one cannot be fully blamed

I am not making this up

Its good to know about product , true, learn about computers by using one , reading , asking and answering questions at forums and yahoo answers

Learn about the interview process and some concepts of sales and retail marketing

In the same way that staples goes through tons of staff - go in 3 months after a visit and see if you recognize many of same faces , they go through tons of managers - that are either moved , fired or quit

One question they never ever will ask is the high cost of training and turnover , and the costs involved in management time and effort in continually hiring

    Everything is action after disaster

That is called - closing the barn door ( and being proud of it) after the horse has bolted from the barn

Even if you think you have good training and experience in computers , and are selling lots of product and extended warranties , you may wake up one morning and find that you are assigned to another department  - say the post office or the copy area because of low staff levels ( cannot imagine why)

Lastly if you do not get called for interview number one - reapply 3 to 4 months later - it will most likely be new management and interviewers

If not then it is an exceptional big box store and a better place to work

  3. Like Egghead --where I applied-- they are more interested in SALES.

They even told me I did not need to know anything about computers.

I was stunned and never went back. Months later they fired all employees and closed all the stores.

Staples is really interested in the sales, too.

    sorry =[

  4. i think u know more then enough... besides you probally wont be doing repairs for a long time... u will be selling computers and parts on the floor. Most customers only want a bit of information... and the entire time that I worked in the service center there was never a huge problem and i never dealt with an os other then windows.

I worked there when i was 15 as a computer tech... its not hard
