  1. No....

  2. I am homeschooled and I'm neither ill nor a hippy. You need to have your parent go to the Principal of the school and access your options. There are a number of available online homeschooling curriculum and you can always see what your district offers. If you have a lot of trouble in school it might not be the best choice for you though, it requires a lot of dedication and self-control.

  3. There are no specific reasons to be homeschooled. If you want your parent to school you then thats yours and your parents choice, not the school

  4. No. The Counselor has no say in whether or not you can be home schooled if you live in the United States. Speak with your parents/guardians and look up the legal requirements for your state at http://www.hslda.org.

If you are speaking about an independent study program that may be the case as some schools limit the number of students in these programs however for true home schooling there is nothing the local school district can do to stop you.

  5. No...my siblings and I are home educated because the closest primary school is a four hour drive away and the closest high school is c. 1,000kms away from our house.

We're unschoolers so we don't follow any curriculum, State or otherwise, lol! Whether or not you have to follow a particular curriculum...or study particular subjects/topics...or take any tests or exams depends on both where you live (which State) and how much your State government expects you to take seriously its dictats or whether, like our's, they're more than happy and willing to give you tacit approval to ignore their regulations because it suits them just as much and probably more than it suits us, lol!

Oh, and unless you live in Germany, there is no reason why your parents can't pull you out of school and let you learn at home if that's what you and they decide to do. In the US (and I'm assuming that's where you are if your school has a counsellor - the US is the only place I've ever heard of where schools have counsellors!), homeschooling is legal in every State. You don't have to be sick; you don't have to have a reason at all and you certainly don't have to give your school any reason why you want to be homeschooled!

It seems some American schools tend to peddle this "no, you can't homeschool" trash though, either through ignorance or a desperate desire to hang on to the money they get for having you on their register. It is 100% bulldust to tell you that you can't homeschool in any country other than Germany. Get your mum to look at the hslda website for the FACTS about homeschooling you in the US.

  6. The counselor you spoke with gave you incorrect information.  Any child in the US can be home schooled.  Check with the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) for more information on how to meet the legal requirements within your state.  I have never heard of a state requiring a home school family to use state curriculum (but I'm not familiar with the laws for all states).  That would usually apply however if you choose to use a charter school to home school.  Ask your parents to visit HSLDA.org.  They can click the link that says  "Home Schooling Start Here".  It has lots of good information about how to get started and provides a link to the laws for each state.

  7. You can be home schooled if your parents can teach you for at least 5 hours a day and if they get the curriculum to teach you. If both your parents work full time, you cannot be home schooled unless you hire a tutor.

  8. as far as i know any parent can opt for home schoolinf they have to follow state curriculum though

  9. nope my friend is home schooled and he doesnt look sick he comes out to talk all the time

  10. You will have to have your parents check the laws of where you live.  I live in Florida and I homeschool all 3 of my children, just because I don't want them in public school.  I have them registered as homeschoolers with the county, and we have to have at least 165 days of school per year.  We also have to have them evaluated once a year by a licensed state teacher and send that evaluation to the county.  Make sure your parents are on board, and then do some research.  I love to homeschool, and my kids prefer it to going to public school.  Good luck in your journey!

  11. some states even have cyber charter home schools in which they provide each child with their own computer, equipment and supplies; books, science instruments, etc! You should google the info in your state. Some of these schools even pay for the internet connection as well as extra curricular activities such as horseback riding because they consider that as gym! check it out.
