  1. No, you do not need to be part of

    a paranormal group to investigate

    a cemetary, but I don't recommend

    going alone esp on Halloween.

  2. I think all you need to do is ask the people in the admin building of the cemetery for permission, as cemeteries are usually locked up at night.

  3. No, but you should ask the paranormal permission to enter and take pictures or EV P's prior to entering the cemetery. It's also good to say goodbye when you leave so they don't follow you home.

  4. I think you should go where the ghost scratches you, it would be nice to see some concrete evidence for once.

No need to go to the cemetery at night either, if there was such a thing as ghosts I'm sure they'd be there 24/7.

  5. Well, It really depends on what you are doing. If you plan on ghost hunting, or thrill seeking, then you don't need anything. But, if you are planning on actually investigating, you need to know how to do that. The difference is that investigators approach it as scientifically as possible, taking base readings, comparing changes in the environment to personal experiences. Such research can be conducted with a few pieces of equipment that you can find here:

Also, a great guide to actually learning how to "paranormal research" is "The Ghost Hunters Guide book" by Troy Taylor. It will teach you pretty much all of the essentials.

    Good luck!

  6. Of course, you can go alone! But you have to be totally sure, that you aren't afraid of dark and stuff like that. Paranormal groups can even try to get you in their things, like black magic and stuff like that. Be careful.

  7. Wondering if you need to be part of a paranormal group to go to a cemetery is like wondering if you need to be a banker to visit a bank. Most cemeteries are public places. Anyone is welcome to visit them. Just like you might have more experience as a banker in handling accounts at a bank, you may be better equipped to handle a formal investigation at a cemetery if you were a paranormal investigator.

Despite what some people say, most people do not investigate the paranormal alone. In fact there is over 360 ghost hunting groups and organizations across the United States. Michigan contains the most with over 39 active groups. One of the main reasons people do not investigate alone is safety. While ghosts are not normally dangerous. Locations and the living can be. Most people investigate a site in the dark. Holes, weak flooring, broken glass, and a variety of other debris can be excessively dangerous if you haphazardly find it alone. My first cemetery, one of my friends that went with me turned his ankle due to a gopher hole. Things like this do happen.

If you do go to a cemetery, there are several things to keep in mind.

    1) Cemeteries generally fall under control of the village or township. However, some cemeteries are private. Know the cemetery regulations for each cemetery you visit. Many have curfew hours. If you go after curfew without permission, you are trespassing and its illegal. Ghost hunters have been arrested for this.

    2) Bring a buddy as stated above.

    3) Be respectful of the dead. It might be fun to run around a cemetery at night waving an EVP detector, but remember that these people were once someone's husband, wife, father, mother, brother, sister, etc. You are walking on their final resting place.

    4) Bring a flashlight. Obviously. Bring spare batteries.

    5) Wear appropriate clothing. No open toed shoes. Dress for the weather. Remember temperature can drop considerably at night, especially during the fall.

    6) Someone in the group should carry a cell phone in case of emergencies. A first-aid kit is not a bad idea either.

    Happy hauntings.

  8. oOoOoO that sounds like fun,but i think wisdoms pearl is right, most cemetary's are locked at night. i think it would be easier to get permission to go in at night if you were part of an official paranormal investigative group rather than just you by yourself.

  9. homeboy, all you need is an official looking shirt.

    no bull.

  10. Are you interested in investigating a haunting? If it's haunting, you don't need a paranormal group like on the TV shows. Most ghost-hunters actually work alone. But the right equipment, such as EMF meter, audio recorder, or a camera of any kind can come in handy. I'm also told the more people you bring, the less chances you have of encountering a paranormal phenomena because of their "energy sensitivity". So, if you got guts and courage, go alone.

  11. It is never good to go to a cemetery alone at night.   There is always the chance that you could get hurt, or run into vandals which would be just as bad.   I would at least find one person to go with you and get permission first.   I know that where I live you can be arrested for being in one at night.

  12. Just don't dig anything up or make it look like your vanalizing.

  13. While you don't need to be a part of a group to investigate, I would not recommend doing a cemetery investigation alone at night. You never know who else may be there and what could happen to you.

  14. No, you only need a shovel.  Good luck!
