Do you need to do a Part 135 Checkride to act as PIC on VFR charters?

I know that there's a IFR-PIC checkride, but I haven't seen anything about VFR-only.

Yes, you will need to pass a 135.293 and 135.299 regardless.  Being 'VFR only' you can skip the 135.297 ride.  Look these up in the regs for details, as they encompass all 135 operations.

Yes, there is a checkride.

If your company has check airmen, then you can take it with them.

If you are in a one-pilot operation, you will take it with the local FSDO.
