Actually this fiberglass tub happens to be two pieces. It is had to be specially order since it wasn't the standard 5 foot tub. Anyway, the fiberglass walls do they have to have wet board, or dry wall behind them? I was told that by Code. It is required to have "wet board" behind it.

  1. yup

  2. I don't know what your state requires, but I doubt that you'll be doing it very often.  Buy the best & you cry only once.

And you should check the installation instructions.  The tub will probably have to be bedded in mortar.

  3. typically when installing drywall in areas that are exposed to water such as a bathroom or kithchen the product recommended is the green colored drywall. it is water-resistance and won't mold

  4. mm check on it.http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=+instal...

  5. You should put the green-board behind it in case it leaks so you won't end up with mold or shorted out wiring. It also helps to set it level. You won't need to tape and mud it just s***w it over the studs.

  6. Look up the code for your state/city. I installed my own and screwed the bottom half directly into the studs. then set the top piece on and screwed them to the studs.
