  1. Not really. Fish need the floating time to lessen the shock of the difference in water temps. Plants aren't that particular.

    It is, however, a good idea to thouroughly rinse them in fresh, clean water to help eliminate any unwanted hitchhikers, like snails, for instance.


  2. You don't need them, but they ARE helpful in creating a more comfortable environment for your fish and a more appealing sight for yourself and others.

  3. Rinse  with some tank water or dechlorinated water before placing them in the tank. If they are a more sensitive variety it would be a good idea to float them and pour some of your tank water in the bag just to prevent any shock to the plant. Less shock to the plant means less likely hood that the plant will shed leaves into the water (a pain to clean up)
