Do you need to go to college first & then to The university to study medicine?

I want to study medicine "surgery".

Do you HAve to go four years to college & transfer to the university "Yale or Harvard" People tell me its rare to get in just like that, graduated from high school?

  1. You can't apply to medical school straight out of high school.  You need a four year college degree first. There are a few BA MD programs out there, but most people do them as separate degrees.  


  2. What you have to do is go to a school for an undergraduate major like biology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc to obtain a Bachelor's degree.  This will give you the pre-requisite courses you need and take the MCAT too.  That will decide which medical schools you get into, as well as your grades.  From there, apply to different medical schools, and then you can specialize in surgery

  3. Go to a university and study pre-med, then get accepted into a medical school. I wouldn't reccomand attending a college, I prefer a university.
