  1. I used to use wheels when I raced online.  Since then, I have taken up racing on my PS2 using a wheel, and have recently started using the controller.  I have a controller just like my PS2 controller, but I haven't tried using it on any of my PC racing games.  Back quite a few years ago, when Bill Elliott's NASCAR Challenge came out for the PC (back in the early 90's), there were no wheels, nor controllers, and you had to use the keyboard.  I could get a car around the track, but not very well (same goes for the same game on a Nintendo Game Boy).  All in all, it is possible to get good using the keyboard, but if you want to be decent, fast, use a wheel.

    As far as finding paint schemes (called skins in gaming), try BlackHole Motorsports (http://www.bhmotorsports.com).  there's links there to literally thousands of skins, and hundreds of skins sites.

  2. Keyboard=HARD

    Wheel=EASY

    for the paintscheme go to www.teamsbr.com all cars and schemes from 2003 to 2008. (and other stuff)

  3. It's very very hard to play with keys. It's tough to get smooth movements like you can with a wheel. I tried it with controller but was not as fast as the guys using steering wheels because I had to keep pressing the analog stick down the straightaway and made jerky movements. So it would be really hard to be very good with it on a Keyboard. Maybe invest in a cheap wheel to play it. Good luck. And I don't know where to get the paint scheme. Maybe try http://www.masgrafx.com/masgrafxracing/
