Do you need to heat up a gas oven like you do with electric?

I am serious, I have used electic literally all my life but the element takes time to get hot. Gas is an instant flame.

Where you are cooking with electric or gas you ....... must always, heat the oven in advance to get the exact temperature that you require.

Of course.  The whole point in preheating an oven is for the interior of the oven to be at a consistent temperature before you put in the food you're going to bake.  A gas oven gets cold when you turn it off, just like an electric oven.

Now, with that said .... there are several brands of gas ovens that are always turned on and always stay hot.  One of those brands is called Aga.  They're generally not used by regular homeowners, but people who are gourmet cooks may have one.  Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda had one in their home and I just happened to run across an article several years ago talking about them and their over that is never turned off.

But if you're just a regular person with a regular gas stove, you need to preheat your oven.
