I just finished my swimming lessons and I'm having a hard time treading. I'm doing the breaststroke kick, but I get tired easily. I want to try surfing now.

  1. YOU BETTER LEARN HOW TO SWIM FIRST FORGOT SURFING TO YOU BECOME A BETTER SWIMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:-)

  2. I recommend that you work on you swimming a lot more before you jump into surfing.  Before you start surfing you have to learn how to be really comfortable under water especially because when you first learn to surf you spend a lot of time under water.  Treading water comfortably is a must if you are going to try to learn to surf.

  3. Of course you want to learn to swim first before surfing, but you dont need to knwo how to tread water for a long time when you first start surfing. You should be learning in pretty gentle waves that wont be much of a problem for anyone to learn in. as you surf more you will be more comfortable in the ocean and you will become a stronger swimmer on your own. Just remember, when in doubt, dont go out.

  4. Don't go surfing until you are a really strong swimmer. Being in the ocean is a lot different than being in a pool. If you are not a strong swimmer you can get in real trouble really fast. Surfing also takes a pretty high level of fitness so if you're getting tired in swim class, you're not ready for the ocean.

  5. Learn to swim first.
