do you need to put some wax on a surfboard traction pad (tail pad) to give it more grip.

  2. of course you do! you'd be crazy NOT to!! you have to put AT LEAST 1 whole bar on it. make sure you do it at the beach so everyone can see that you know EXACTLY what you're doing out there!

  3. No Daniel. The reason you're using the TRACTION pad is to get a good grip off the tail. I know it looks cool, but it also serves the purpose of traction.

The purpose of the traction pad is to get more traction on your back foot for when you do cut backs and what not.  Putting wax over a traction pad won't do any thing for you really except make you look like a kook.  I have never seen any one do it before and i don't think that it is necessary at all.

  6. the point of a traction pad is to get the best grip on the tail ( and sometimes middle ) of the board so you dont need to put wax on the pad.
