  1. No.  Actually, most applicants today are issued B1/B2 visas, good for either business or tourism, though not for gainful employment.

I have seen several applicants refused for visas after pulling large amounts of cash from their pockets.  The consular officers felt this indicated insincerity, and I bet that immigration officers feel the same.

  2. Yes, but don't worry, the amount of money can't fit in your wallet.

The B-1 is for bussines, what you need is a letter from a company saying that if it is necessary the company will take care of all your expenses during your staying in the country to show you wont be an inconvenient to anyone and also that your visit will be financially productive for the company. It's about money.

Even if they are thousands, money in your wallet is pocket change, to pay for a taxi, rent car, buy souvenirs, what it counts is the letter and why you have a B1, because you are good to the economy.

  3. No, there is no law or rule that says you must.  HOWEVER, if the officer at the port of entry doubts your bona fides as a B-1 entrant, they may question you and examine your belongings to see if they are consistent with the purpose for travel you are claiming.
