Do you need to study English at A level to do Teacher Training in University?

I have just done my GCSE's and am debating whether to do English at A level. I want to do Teacher Training in University but don't know whether I need to do english in order to do the course. Can someone help me please?

  1. That depends on what course you wish to do.

    I'm presuming you don't want to teach Secondary School English, in which case, No, English A-level won't be compulsory.

    If you are planning to do a course in Primary Teaching then you will need English, Maths & Science GCSEs, and normally at least two A-levels in any subjects. It might be best to choose subjects which are standard National Curriculum subjects that would be taught in Primary Schools, or have a link to them, but any should be fine.
