Do you need topps Series 1 and Series 2 to make a complete set?

I mainly collect topps 2008 series 2 and i was wondering do i also need to collect topps series 1 in order to make a complete set because i relize all the series 2 i have are from 300-600.

yes you do.

The concept of having the two different series was to make more money for the companies, but also so that they could included players who were traded in season and also later rookies to come up.

To have the complete set, you need #1 through whatever number it goes to 792 or 800 or 1000.
