  1. you could get a malarya vaccination but is not mandatory, malarya is not frecuent in mexico.

  2. It's advisable, yes. You might already have had some of these, but ask at your doctor surgery's travel clinic / nurse asap. Hep B you're probably too late for as takes 6 weeks as I recall (repeat injection or something like that) but it's not a big deal, that one (3 years living here and I still haven't got round to getting the jab!) When I first came I took malaria tablets but they're horrible for your body and I think it's unneccesary. There are very few cases of malaria here. But do protect yourself against mosquitoes because there's also a risk of dengue fever, which is far more common than malaria in these parts. You can buy repellent when you get here (my personal recommendation, having tried them all, is Off). That DEET stuff that you buy in Boots etc is nasty and carcinogenic, and frankly, Off works better anyway. Do make sure you have something for when you get to the airport though - you're fresh blood and the clever mozzies hang around outside the planes waiting for such unsuspecting victims!!! Don't drink the water (or even clean your teeth in it). Better bottled. Have fun! You're coming to paradise!
