Do you need your guide hand to shoot the basketball?

Question

Because I can shoot the ball with my right hand only, but I can't with my left hand. I need my other hand to support it. The strange thing is that I shoot better with my left hand. I'm right handed btw.

you need it or it would go to rim right. your guide hand "gi=uide" the ball. you probably have more rotation on your left hand than you do on your right. im like that

     If your saying that your left hand works better with your right as a support and for the shot but your left hand is better at being your primary shot hand and your right isnt very good at being a guide hand, go with your right hand as primary.   First, it sounds like you have more experience with your right hand than left.  Also, your naturally right handed so that's even better.  

     What would be truly amazing is if you could master both hands.  I would recomend watching Allen Iverson as he is ambidextrius, though not many people know this.  Another is Lamar Odom as he is a left handed shooter but primarly a right handed dribbler.
