Do you need your permit to get your license when you're 16 in California?

I heard that if you're 16 you don't need a permit necessarily to get your license.

Yes.I think when you're under the age of 18 you have to attend a driving school before they allow you to take your learners permit exam.After that you have to pass your learner's permit test.Im guesing DMV will only allow you to have your permit until you turn 18.THEN YOU CAN APPLY FOR A DRIVER LICENSED.

You cannot get a drivers license in CA at 16 unless you've had a permit for at least six months first.

At 18 all you can go to the DMV, prove who you are, fill out the application, pay the fee and pass their tests and you can get a driver's license. At 18 you do not your parents to sign for you.

yes my brother just got his permit and the requirement to get a license is 16 years old and have to practice for a certain amount of hours and to do that, you need a permit
