No.  For that to be true, NBC would have to know beforehand who wins the medal, and then make the decision whether or not to show it live.  See what I'm saying?  What they do is show the most popular events live when they can.  On the east coast, we're a 12 hour time difference, so they are limited in how many and what events they can show live.  During primetime, they're trying to show different sports, so most aren't shown live.

And they don't wait a whole day to show the events.  What you see was done earlier today for us, and yesterday for the Chinese.

i've noticed this also..pretty biased. I've also noticed that when an american doesn't do as great they really don't say much. But when someone from another country doesn't do so hot they tear that person apart. For some odd reason i'm addicted to the olympics this year and find myself wanting to compete in swimming...even though i don't know how to swim. Pretty crazy stuff.

If you live on the West Coast it is never live. They only show morning sports, like swimming and diving and gymnastics live. We suck at diving, but they still televise on NBC.

NBC broadcasts to the US so it makes sense they favor US events and results.  Other countries have their own coverage so emphasize their athletes.

Did you notice when the US Swim Team won a gold medal and during the National Anthem all they showed was Phelps? That director should be fired.

Ratings, who wants to watch the French win an even that we finish 10th in? We would rather watch one of the many events we are good in. Let the diehards watch the others in the AM or at nite.

Yes I noticed that and it sucks because I would really like to see the beach volleyball semi-final with the two Chinese teams. But I am sure it is the same way in other countries where they mostly show the events that their country are competing in.

They never show it live.  They were lucky enough to get some beach volleyball and all the swimming finals live.

Since the time difference is plus 12 hours, it's really difficult to air it live because then you would have to get up at 6:30 am to see finals. When it is 8pm here, it is 8am there, way too early but NBC managed to convince the IOC to move some finals to the morning so they could air it live but they cover most of the major events and put all the other events on cable channels or late at night or on weekend afternoons.

This is typical, not good coverage at all.If you want to watch good coverage watch the Canadian channels.They even pronounce Beijing correctly.
