does anyone here work for the United Nations? do you know what it takes to land a post there? is there a qualifying exam, written or oral too? thank you.

Yes, me.

I get frequent letters from the UNICEF since once I have contributed.

The embarrassing of the thing is that those letters are not coming from the address of the UN building, but from an inner US state.

Was my contribution to help poor children probably redirected?

It depends on what position you are going to.  Is it technical or advanced?  I have a few friends who work there and they all have advanced degrees in either political science, foreign relations, development, epidemiology, or economics.  You will need a good education, preferably at least a Master's degree if you want good work.  You will probably have to work at another organization, such as CARE international, Peace CORPS, etc. (depending on the field you are going in to) so you can have established work experience on your resume.  Try to at least have a foreign language under your belt, preferably french or spanish.  Some positions do have exams that you ahve to take, depending on which positions they are.  Check out the website, they have detailed information regarding each of the positions listed.  Find what you want, see what they are looking for, and then go for it.  Good luck.
