  1. There is a street in Tulsa, Oklahoma named Mingo..

    maybe that helps??? good luck

Most likely named after someone ..!

Also the Mormons are really good at geneology, if you call one of their churches (LDS MORMON) they will probably give you good advice

  2. In order to find all the Mingos (and the plethora or other surnamed descendants as well) you will have to do the research.

Or, you can call all the Mingos listed in the white pages, but of course, that will not include all the relations with different surnames.

There is no magic family tree place.  If you want a family tree you will have to build one.

Good luck and have fun at the reunion.

  3. I just had a Daniel Boone moment. But I'm betting you're too young to remember the show.

Here's the best place for you to start your research. http://genforum.genealogy.com/mingo/

From here, work on this from a computer at your public library where you can access military, census and public records for free. While you're there, you can also use the newspaper archives and local history resources that you won't find on the internet.

One other invaluable resource is the USGenWeb project. There is a page for every county in every state, and very experienced volunteers who just love helping you get the help you need.
