So obviously there is a ton of vegan / vegetarian merchandise sold on the web. Do you own veggie gear? I'm not sure how I would feel about walking around with "Vegetarian" written across my shirt. Just curious how you guys feel about this stuff......

  1. YOu mean like stuff that broadcast you are a vegtarian/vegan or youy mean stuff that is vegetarian/vegan (no animal by products such as leather animal dye etc)?

I ask becasue I will never ever wear shirts that say "vegetarian/vegan" on them, but I do own "stuff" that are "animal friendly" or "cruelty free".

Caveat: If you advertise like that, just make sure you can take the comments that are sure to go with it. You cannot claim that is is a personal choice once you broadcast it like that since you are basically announcing it and are inviting comments whether positive or negative.

  2. Yep.  I have the "All This and Vegan Too" shirt (and a sticker on my bulletin board at work), the Herbivore shirt that says "Go Vegan or Die!" with a cute little pink skull and crossbones, and shirt that says "Vegetarianism is Environmentalism" to replace my battered "Real Environmentalists Don't Eat Meat" shirt (actually, it got stained--if I wear white or cream, I WILL inevitably spill stuff on it).  I have a hoodie that says "Vegan" and a pin on one of my heavier coats that says Vegan.  Oh, and I have a green shirt I got from Alternative Outfitters that says "Vegans Rock" in a really cute swirly design.

  3. I don't currently own any veg gear. I was seriously considering purchasing the t-shirt that says "Powered by Tofu".

It's really cute - the tofu has a smiley face. (haha)

I happened upon a website with a lot of veg*n things - underpants, shirts, hoodies, totes, stamps....it was really something.

I don't see an issue with the merchandise. I think wearing such things might be a catalyst to bring awareness to the lifestyle. If people choose to wear it proudly and give veg*ns a good name, then I think it's excellent.

  4. I WISH I had vegan gear -  I'd be wearing "go vegan or I'll kick your @ss" t-shirts every day.

I'm just kidding... I'm not actually interested in kicking anyone's @ss, or other body parts.  I just dig t-shirts with shock-value.

  5. I have a shirt that says "Chicks Dig Vegans" with pictures of chicks. It's this one: http://www.veganessentials.com/catalog/c...

I think clothing is a good way to promote vegetarianism. Many people wear t-shirts with the name of their college or favorite sports team. Why not have an animal-friendly message instead? :)

Some of the messages are too abrasive. (For example, "Go Vegan or Die"). I wouldn't wear anything offensive, insulting, or preachy; I think it's best to stick to friendly and cute veggie gear.

  6. I have a few subtle shirts and I like them. It depends on how you feel about getting questions/arguments from people, because that may happen in certain situations.

  7. No, I wear Victorian clothing from the 1890s.

  8. Haha I don't have a Meat is Murder shirt but I do have some subtle, kinda cute things (in my opinion).

Firstly, I have a shirt that says Herbivore in nice text.  It's actually from Herbivore Clothing Company.  If you scroll down to the Keep Singing Uni tee you can see it here: http://www.herbivoreclothing.com/unisex....

On my car I have two bumper stickers.

    Powered by Tofu: http://www.petacatalog.org/images/200-BS...

    Save Everything!: http://www.herbivoreclothing.com/st.save...

I think they're pretty playful and not degrading to meat-eaters in any way.  I'm planning on getting some more gear too but it's gonna be oh so subtle.

Runits...you can always embroider "veggies rock" on your bloomers.  :D

  9. i own a celery shaped pin(literally a stalk of celery), but that is more of a doctor who thing, then a veg*n thing. most of the shirts are too small, (i am a very large man) and the pins ain't my style (little duckies and bunnies are not my style)

  10. I don't have "Powered by Tofu" shirts or anything.

However I do have Animal Rights and Animal Welfare shirts that I do wear and some make clear that I am vegan.

  11. I've got a t-shirt that says 'All this and vegan too' which I do quite like, but I didn't buy it for myself. I quite like to see other people wearing things proclaiming them to be vegetarians/vegans though (but that's probably just because I'm nosy!)
